DR. MARTINS X KEITH HARING COLLABORATION
Keith Haring was a New York artist, heavy influenced by 1980s American street culture. Starting out as a graffitist in New York subways, he soon gained public recognition in the 1990s going onto commission large scale murals. His artwork had undertones of socio-political activism and were a commentary on important social issues at the time including AIDs awareness, anti-racial segregation and the cocaine epidemic. He dedicated his life to fighting for the oppressed and his impact is still seen in the art community today.
Dr. Martens has unveiled a new collaboration featuring a selection of Haring’s famous illustrations, celebrating his work.
This boot features Haring’s untitled artwork depicting genderless figures embracing and supporting each other. The use of this symbol in Haring’s work stands for humanconnections, togetherness and love, regardless of race,sexuality or gender.
