India’s Railway Provides Rooms for Breastfeeding Mothers in 100 Stations

Union Railways Ministry has given a decision to help women breastfeed their babies while traveling by train by providing private space in 100 train station waiting rooms across India.
The decision was made on several complaints filed by the Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi. He then approached Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
“When female passengers wait at the station for hours, they can not breastfeed their babies, they also do not have the facility to change their clothes, and this is because of the lack of infrastructure at the train station,” Maneka wrote in his letter to Prabhu, Ke Times of India .
“Instructions have been issued for all zonal railways on June 8 to provide a separate area in the waiting room at important stations for feeding infants by nursing mothers This corner is equipped with small tables and chairs with appropriate partitions / screens in To date, more than 100 waiting rooms have been equipped with this facility, “the railway council later informed the WCD ministry.
